Help the Community

Helping out your community is wonderful, whether you need community service for college applications, you need a hobby because you have too much extra time, or if you simply want to help the community in some way. The best part is, it is easy and anyone can do it. You just need to find the a way to help that works for you.

Recycling is one way to help the community and the environment, and you can do it from home. Set up boxes or bags in the kitchen and instead of throwing everything into the trashcan, put the plastic, your cans of soda, your glass bottles, and your paper boxes into the right containers. Then find a recycling center near you and simply drop off the trash.

Cleaning up a park helps keep the area beautiful, both for you and other people, and it is easy to do. Get in touch with local clean up crews to find out when they are going in to pick up the litter on the group and simply pitch in. Or, another way to help your community look beautiful, is to help plant flowers. You can talk to committees in charge of the plants and flowers to find out when you can help them plant new ones.

If you are more interested in helping people instead of plants you could volunteer at youth shelters. These shelters are always in need of people to pitch in and help these kids with homework or to help teach them the correct ways of acting. If you are looking for more adults to help, volunteer at a soup kitchen and help give food to those who need it. It is easy to help the community you live in, in various ways, and there is always a need for help.
