Raise Money with a Game Night

Community fundraising is something that communities all over the world have been doing for many, many years. As such, there are a lot of different fundraising ideas floating around out there. Unfortunately, most fundraisers have been so done to death that people are just plain sick and tired of them. When this is the case, even if fundraising is being done for the most noble cause imaginable, many people will choose not to attend the fundraiser. Common community fundraising ideas that, more often than not, don’t get people to their goals include carnivals, car washes, bake sales, selling Krispy Kreme donuts, selling cookies, selling candy or other products—particularly around the holidays, and just plain asking for donations!

Those who are sick of these all too common fund raising ideas and who want to plan something truly awesome for their next fund raisers are urged to try hosting a game night. A game night is great because it doesn’t just come out and ask for money. It doesn’t even try to sell people something useless or subpar for a good cause, either. Instead, it just offers individuals a way to have an awesome time and participate in some fund raising at the same time. The trick is to make your game night sound so fun that nobody will even think about the fact that they are attending a charity event. Not focusing on the fun is one of the big reasons that many charity event ideas ultimately fail.

Also, make sure that the game night has a fixed donation in place. This can either mean that a 'donation' is required for entry into the event or that the event is free but there is a suggested donation price for participation. Game nights can be as simple or as elaborate as funds allow. In fact, it’s even possible to host a game night for free by gathering board games from donors or members of the sponsoring organization and then inviting people in to play for a fixed donation. These events can also be themed; casino and video game themes are quite popular now. Let the imagination run wild and plan a great and fun game night that will raise lots of money for an awesome cause.
