Coffee House Hang-OUTs

Coffee House Hang-OUTs are an informal social gathering for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied youth, ages 13-23. They're a time to get together and hang out in a non-threatening space with other youth and ASPYN adult volunteers. We began these in July of 2001 and they have been growing in popularity! Queer Youth Drop-In (QYDI)

We feel it's important that youth have a place to go in Orange county and although this is not a TCW event, we want to pass on this information: Every Friday from 5-8pm Internationalist Books hosts a group for LGBTQ youth aged 13-18 (not strictly enforced) called Queer Youth Drop-In (QYDI). This is a great opportunity to meet and hang out with other LGBTQ youth in the area.

Other groups offering events often of interest to ASPYN participants include SafeSchoolsNC and NCLYN.

Matthew's Place

The Matthew Shepard Foundation is pleased to announce the development of the new and improved Matthew's Place, a site for young people to access safe, informative, interactive and cutting edge resources to help them create a
hate-free world. And we'd like for you to be part of the Matthew¹s Place
Organization Resource List!

In the years after Matthew's death, Judy Shepard discovered that there was a
gap in the information that was being offered to young people and felt that
one way the Matthew Shepard Foundation could use it's voice was to provide
young people with a safe place to access resources and information necessary
for them to lead a healthy and productive life. The website will include
resources about LGBTQ youth friendly shelters, outreach centers and
empowerment programs across the country, as well as moderated chats,
discussion boards, and informational columns from notable individuals in the
LGBTQ and allied communities.
